7 Organic Skin Care Tips for Fall and Winter
December 16, 2009
Fall and winter are the harshest times of the year for our skin. The skin needs extra care during these seasons to keep it moisturized. Follow these fall and winter organic skin care tips to keep your skin healthy and radiant this holiday season and after the New Year.
1. Drink Water Frequently
Help your skin stay hydrated by drinking lots of water. When you leave the house, take a bottle of water, tea or juice with you. Hot herbal tea can do wonders in the cold. If you constantly hydrate yourself, your skin will maintain a healthy glow even on the coldest days of winter.
2. Exfoliate Dead Skin Cells Away
Remove dead skin cells with a body or facial scrub to keep your skin feeling fresh. You don’t need to buy expensive products for the job. Create an exfoliant recipe by using items you can find in your kitchen.
3. Use Organic Products to Moisturize
After you exfoliate your skin, the next step is to moisturize it. Various organic skin moisturizers made from natural ingredients are available on the market. Free of harsh chemical preservatives, these organic products help protect rather than harm your skin.
4. Remember to Wear Sunscreen
Just because summer is over doesn’t mean that you should not apply sunscreen when going out. Apply a sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 15. Sunscreens made from organic ingredients are available on the market. Some sunscreens also contain moisturizing agents. A good sunscreen will protect your skin from the harsh environment.
5. Always Don Your Gloves
Remember, when your mom makes all the fuss about wearing gloves during wintertime, you should consider her advice. Don’t leave home in the cold without a pair of gloves. Choose gloves that are made of hemp or other organic material. Gloves keep your hands warm and dry as well as protect your skin from harsh elements.
6. Add an Organic Oil to Your Bath
An organic oil bath can be relaxing, as well as hydrate your skin. For instance, a lavendar bath nourishes the skin while relaxing the body and calming the senses. To wash away the stress of a tiring day at the office or shopping at the mall, simply add a few drops of the oil to your bath.
7. Protect your Lips with Organic Lip Balm
Your lips are more likely to chap in the fall and winter. This is because both the use of indoor heaters and the cold elements themselves can cause lips to chap. Use an organic lip balm to help stave off chapping.. Make sure the balm is there when you need it by stowing one away in your pocket or purse. After all, you never know when you’ll need one. Anyone who has suffered from chapped lips can tell you that lip balm is something one should never be without!
