Men’s guide to dealing with oily skin

September 13, 2008

No one wants a slick forehead, or a shiny face, but many people have to deal with oily skin on a daily basis. Causes of this skin situation include genetics, stress, and large pores. The good news is that there are some fairly simple solutions to turn oily skin into skin you want to show off, and here they are:

1. Get cleansing
If you are prone to oiliness, you are probably prone to blemishes, as well. Hot weather or working up a sweat can increase your skin’s production of oil, making cleansing a key step in regulating your skin. Use Lab Series Skincare For Men Oil Control Face Wash with warm water two or three times a day. It’s gentle enough to leave a healthy amount of your skin’s natural oil and strong enough to clear your pores of dead skin cells and excess oil. Avoid harsh scrubbing, as it will only cause irritation, let the product do the cleaning for you.

2. Absorb it.
Once or twice a week, you’ll want to soak up excess oil and get a deeper cleaning. Clay masks like DDF Sulfur Therapeautic Mask, can help clear pores and prevent breakouts. You’ll want to follow the mask with a toner like Anthony Astringent Oil Control Toner Pads to close your clean pores off from acne causing dead skin cells and other pore cloggers.

3. Protect and prevent.
Use an oil-free moisturizer like NV Perricone Pore Refining Moisturiser to keep your skin hydrated. Dry skin can cause an overproduction of oil, which you want to avoid. Since oily skin is often associated with large pores, the pore refining feature is helpful for decreasing the size of pores, thus reducing their chances of getting clogged and increasing the chances that your skin stays clear.
